THE WARREN and BETTY BURNSIDE 
FOUNDATION, INC. SCHOLARSHIP.

THE WARREN and BETTY BURNSIDE FOUNDATION was created by Warren and Betty Burnside in June of 1991.

From income derived from gifts by Mr. and Mrs. Burnside, the Foundation began granting scholarships to Harrison County students in 1992, awarding (28) Scholarships totaling $40,000.00.   In 1993, the number of scholarships grew to (43) providing $51,000.00 in financial aid.   The number of scholarships has grown each year since then and in 2005 (109) Scholarships were awarded providing $100,000.00 in financial aid. 

In total, the Burnside Foundation has awarded (1333) scholarships providing over (1.6) Million Dollars in financial assistance, since 1992.

(45) of the 2007 - 2008 scholarships in the amount of $1,750 each are for high school seniors and (72) scholarships of $1,750.00 were awarded to students already in college.

The scholarships are exclusively for Harrison County High School graduates and are divided among the (6) Harrison County High Schools:

BRIDGEPORT HIGH SCHOOL
LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL
LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL
ROBERT C. BYRD HIGH SCHOOL
SOUTH HARRISON HIGH SCHOOL
NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL
The Foundation's assets are managed by (7) Board of Directors and scholarship recipients are chosen by a (7) member Selection Committee that is separate from the board of directors.

Since, scholarships are provided only from the income derived from Foundation's assets, the Foundation will be able to continue awarding financial assistance  to future graduates well into the future.
